When London via Oxford band Foals released their Mercury nominated Everything Not Saved Will Be Lost – Part 1, they promised there would be a more guitar-driven follow up later this year. And true to their word Foals will put out the sequel on 18 October 2019.
Speaking with Annie Mac on BBC Radio 1, when they released the lead track 'Exits' in January, they said the follow up would be heavier and more representative of their live show. They also told NME at the Mercury Prize nominations that "the guitars are more emphasised and there's some big riffs on it."
And the Youtube trailer they've uploaded yesterday (30 June) to advertise the album suggests the same thing: there's Muse-sized wallop to the punchy guitar riffs once the haunting church organ gone awry sound of the intro gives way. Seems like widescreen rock production at its finest.
Foals' Mercury nomination appears to have put a skip in the step of the band who have been reeling since playing the surprise set on the Park Stage at Glastonbury.
With love & humility... we’re the best band in the world 🏴☠️🌸

The band's European summer continues with a show at Zelt-Music festival in Germany tonight, Szene Open Air in Austria (1-3 August), and on 3 August they headline the mighty OFF Festival in Poland.
OFF Festival, which is held in a municipal park in Katowice, has a strong British presence on its line up this year. Mercury Prize nominees Black Midi, slowthai, Fontaines D.C., Idles; and Jarvis Cocker and Suede are among those to join Foals on the bill.
