Island Records and Flat Iron Square are joining forces to host ‘UnTapped’ Vinyl Listening Parties from next month onwards. Using a newly-installed Shinola Sound System, ‘UnTapped’ will be held at Tap & Bottle.
The gorgeous venue is tucked away off the main street-food hall, but the cosy loft-space is well worth the trek up the stairs. Flooded by natural light, the venue features wine on tap, and it’s near the square’s famous music venue, Omeara. Attendees will also be guided through wine tasting, as a wine expert will provide three tasters of wine with an explanation for their choice - included in the £15 ticket price. That doesn’t mean that you can’t buy more wines, though…
If that wasn’t enough, each record will be introduced by figures close to the artists or the production of the record. ‘UnTapped’ will start with Amy Winehouse’s classic Frank (12 August), which will be explained by her first manager, close friend and A&R Nick Shymansky. The next week (19 August), Grace Jones’ Slave To The Rhythm will be accompanied by broadcaster, writer and author of her biography I’ll Never Write My Memoirs, Paul Morley. Each figures are both well respected in their industries, and they’ll shed light onto the album’s context as well as draw upon personal memories they shared with each artist.
