More about: Interpol
After months of speculation New York legends Interpol have today released a new single and announced their sixth album.
The first single, ‘The Rover’ from the forthcoming new album Marauder (out 24 August) is out now - and streaming below. This new album is the first since 2014’s El Pintor.
The band will also be performing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert tomorrow (8 June) and have announced a ton of world tour dates to add to previously announced appearances at London’s BST Hyde Park, Glasgow’s TRNSMT Festival, NYC’s House of Vans and Chicago’s Riot Fest.

The new tour dates are listed on Gigwise below, and include a special date at the Royal Albert Hall.
The band made the album announcement with a special live stream Q&A and mural unveiling from Mexico City.
This is the first album since 2007’s Our Love To Admire that the band have drafted in support from a producer. The choice of legendary producer Dave Fridmann, famous for his incredible work with Mercury Rev, MGMT, Flaming Lips and Mogwai, will no doubt inject something new into the Interpol sound.
The first glimpse at the new album ‘The Rover’ promises big things. Buoyed by a new frenetic energy, the single points to a heavier direction for the band. Driving big beats lift the classic Interpol guitar chimes for a tune primed for the indie dancefloor. The austere baritone of Paul Bank’s previous vocal delivery also appears warmer and brighter, in a continuation of the vibe first heard on last album El Pintor.
Unmistakably Interpol but markedly different, ‘The Rover’ will please old fans and potentially create new converts from rock fans.
Marauder is out via Matador Records on 24 August 2018.
