Last week, a host of guerrilla style (but probably paid for) Aphex Twin logos, created by resident Aphex Twin graphic designer, Paul Nicholson, appeared around the world. They were spotted in Elephant and Castle's sweltering underground station and in Turin, New York, Tokyo and Los Angeles. There was little doubt this would lead to an announcement of some sort.
And today details have emerged from Warp about an EP. But it seems sitting around the board room in Warp Records involves a little more imagination than at most labels as the internet's been gifted the most extraordinary press release.
Underneath the psychedelic Aphex Twin logo, the PR, which you can read in full below, describes details of the forthcoming Collapse EP with such lines as "one of the brightest and most critically acclaimed tadpoles in the world".

It’s a press release that mocks the whole process of thinking too seriously about how to promote music - and in the process does it better than anyone else.
Read the release, which features no release date, as it appeared when Warp Records posted it. And there's a clearer transcription of it - one without the logo - that Mixmag found via Twitter. They also point out that Resident Advisor reckon the first track from the EP will premiere on Adult Swim tonight.

Aphex Twin, real name Richard D James, made his breakthrough to the mainstream with sinister yet entertaining electronica hit 'Come To Daddy' in 1997.
Since releasing his acclaimed debut Selected Ambient Works 85 - 92 in 1992, the producer, who was born in Limerick, Ireland, has released five more studio albums under Aphex Twin, and a handful of others under different aliases.
Such is his extraordinary oeuvre thus far, we eagerly await the Collapse EP. Check back on Gigwise for more updates.
