Transgressive signee Marika Hackman has told Gigwise that she is "writing again", just weeks after the release of third LP Any Human Friend.

On the AIM Awards red carpet, Hackman, who is attending as a guest of label Transgressive, told us, "I have actually started writing again so I'm cracking on with that."

On the bold new direction her songwriting has taken, Hackman said of her latest record "it feels like the oldest sister that's a fucking rebel."

Elaborating, she said, "We Slept At Last has a fragility to it and it's like the slightly depressed twelve year-old. Then I'm Not Your Man is the sixteen year-old trying to flex those arms."

"Then Any Human Friend is the nineteen year-old who's been there and done that, and is having a fucking good time."

Labelmate Arlo Parks, who is nominated in the One To Watch category at tonight's AIM awards, will eat dinner with Hackman on a Transgressive table - "we haven't met yet so that'll be nice!" she said.

The 2019 AIM Awards will take place this evening (3 September) at the Roundhouse in London.
