Hotly tipped Birmingham trio Victories At Sea return this week with their first new release in two years. ‘Quiet House’, the first single taken from forthcoming second album Everybody’s Lost And All I Want To Do Is Leave, comes out on Friday 27 September.

It marks their first release since 2017’s excellent debut Everything Forever and represents a stark progression from those earlier recordings. Having recently changed managers and labels, the band are now signed to Dutch imprint Gentlemen Recordings with the aforementioned new album scheduled to come out in January of next year.

The seeds for Everybody’s Lost And All I Want To Do Is Leave were initially sewn during a two-week residential stay at a studio on the banks of Loch Fyne before returning to the more familiar confines of Birmingham’s Old Whistle Factory where the record was completed. Produced by long-term cohort Simon Weaver, it marries the sounds encapsulated on ‘Everything Forever’ with a more ambitious, widescreen collage of moods and ideas.

Lead singer, guitarist and lyricist John-Paul White describes the new record as a statement of intent that marks the most productive period in the band’s history to date.

“Ultimately, we made a very special record at a very special time in terms of our own lives. I’m glad we did this. It’s made us stronger people, better friends and that is all documented in these words, songs, melodies and happy accidents.”

The band play two shows in support of the new single, calling in at the following next month.
