Christine and the Queens has dropped a surprise new EP and announced a very intimate show indeed at London's MOTH Club - a part of Annie Mac's AMP Festival taking place this March.

La vita nuova was released without ceremony at midnight last night. It's a sweeping piece of beautiful electro-pop with an opening from recent hit 'people i've been sad' and a further five tracks, including a collaboration with rising alt-popstar of the moment Caroline Polachek on 'La vita nuova'.

A short film has also arrived: a dramatic dance piece beginning on the rooftops of Paris with Heloïse Letissier interpreting each song with characteristic swagger.

Annie Mac Presents (AMP) has showed us great kindness by revealing that Christine and the Queens will play Hackney's MOTH Club as part of the London series of shows.

We spoke to Letissier at the NME Awards this month. On her single 'People, I've been sad', she commented: "That song was just a burst of vulnerability that came up before the last tour was over because I had the craziest, most harsh and intense year. I lost my mum, there was emotional turmoil, a complicated love affair and I just sat on the desk and I started to say 'people, I’ve been sad' and I thought 'oh, there it goes'."

The show will take place on 7 March.
