More about: Yard Act
With their second ever single 'Fixer Upper', Leeds band Yard Act make an explosive statement. The amusing post-punk track languishes in an electrifying instrumental which lampoons Middle England in some of the best lyrics we've heard in ages.
"No one pulls a fast one on Graeme" Yard Act sing in a series of hilarious and genuinely accurate scenes. The subject of this song has just moved into a big house over the road and he's introducing himself to his neighbours. Tune in and if you too are from a road in the North's Middle England, you'll feel like you're back there again.
Meanwhile, guitars whine, the kick drum pounds and some ever-welcome cow bell abound:
It is incredibly refreshing to hear such an amusing and spot on observational character piece taking centre stage on a track. The single follows Yard Act's debut 'The Trapper's Pelts' as their second ever statement.
“Graeme was inspired by an amalgamation of people who lived on my street growing up. I think everyone knows a Graeme, maybe a neighbour or an uncle… sorry if he’s your dad" vocalist James Smith said.
"Not a bad man at heart, he just sincerely believes he’s from a country and generation that achieved the apex of everything so therefore can’t ever be wrong about anything.”
Just brilliant.
