Alt-pop with a thrilling edge

More about:

London’s GIRLI has just shared another alt-pop hit with ‘Ricochet’. Following on from a run of successful singles with ‘More Than A Friend’ and ‘Dysmorphia’, it seems that GIRLI has struck gold with this era of music.

There’s a real darkness to the song’s verses before bursting into more playful, poppy choruses. It’s all about living for the drama, a vibe that she puts across perfectly in the contradicting sounds that appear throughout. She explains the new track here:

"The Ricochet visualiser sums up the vibe of the song to me; playful, enjoying the destruction of something that’s meant to be pretty and cute and lovely. I’m surrounded by all these representations of romance and I’m maniacally f**king it all up. The song is about having a destructive addictive fling that’s making you jealous and obsessive and instead of leaving it for something healthier, you’re relishing the drama. That’s what I wanted to visualiser to like too- me enjoying the chaos that I’m causing all around me."

‘Ricochet’ is the third of a fantastic run from one of alt-pop’s most exciting voices.
