The title track ‘Skin’ is simply gorgeous – the most beautiful song you’ll hear today. The simple piano and muted strings backing allow uplifting lyrics like “The skin that you’re given was made to be lived in / you’ve got a life, you’ve got a life worth living”. ‘Skin’ is positive and uplifting, without being over the top or insincere. It’s incredible that she wrote all of the songs on the record before the age of 22.
Crookes described her debut album:
“Skin is my debut album and the proudest work I have made to date. It is an autobiographical body of work covering subjects from casual sex to generational trauma, abuse of power and mental health.”
