More about:

Josh Landau’s project Stolen Nova makes its debut today with brand new single and music video ‘Vortex’. This is Landau’s debut solo project, otherwise known as the frontman of L.A. band The Shrine. The track is accompanied by a fittingly eccentric music video that matches the pace of the song.

Throughout the track, you can hear elements of Stolen Nova’s chief influences – Tame Impala, David Bowie and Prince in particular. But with his striking visuals and kaleidoscopic sound, he stands out from the crowd. Check out the collage cut-out music video brought to life by Nadia Lee Cohen:

Here’s what Landau said about the debut single:

“Vortex” started out as a single guitar riff, and originally was more of a fast rock song, somewhere in my comfort zone. After it echoed around in my head and the melody drove me crazy for some time, I re-approached it inspired by Prince and Funkadelic, that sort of groove and style, that’s what I was feeling. It surprised me and that's when I got excited, and it felt like a fresh chapter. That chapter is Stolen Nova.”
