Released via Communion Records today, 'Butterflies' is Wunderhorse (aka Jacob Slater)'s fourth ever single, following long-awaited 2021 debut 'Teal', the "sparse, dreamy" 'Poppy' and '17'.
“Butterflies is about a sexual experience I had with an older girl when I was still very young. I didn’t know what I was doing at all and it spun me out for a while," Slater said. "I decided to revisit an experience that made me feel uneasy the same way the music did."
The band have just sold out a two-day residency at The Blue Basement & Third Man Records. His recent show at the Lexington was a triumph, in which Wunderhorse fused "punk sensibilities with classic rock anthemicism, whilst subtly tapping into surf rock and country swing."
