Like Beyoncé on ‘Break My Soul’, Paint Me In Colour want you to know that you’re better than that shitty job, and it’s time to get out and do something you love. There must be something in the air this week. The indie four-piece have shared the new single ahead of their upcoming show at Liverpool’s Kazimier Stockroom.

Hear the song build up from drum-backed vocals to a rousing chorus that will have you ready to leave the rat race in no time. The vocals are fierce throughout as ‘Better Than This’ builds to electrifying heights. Influenced by the likes of Kid Kapichi and Nothing But Thieves, Paint Me In Colour are definitely a band to watch.

Vocalist Liv spoke about the inspiration behind the song:

“I wrote ‘Better Than This’ at a time when I felt I was just jumping from one shit job to another, trying to do whatever to keep things ticking along. I was tired of the same old and wanted to take a leap and pursue what I really loved. I remember sitting one day and thinking ‘I’m better than this’ and that’s what sparked it. The lyrics and music are a bit of a journey, constantly switching from happy to sad, much like how I was feeling day to day with my emotions being very up and down. At its core ‘Better Than This’ shows that you don’t need someone else to give you self worth. You don’t need anyone to do that.”
