The weather is getting miserable again, our jackets are getting thicker and the days shorter, but that doesn’t mean the sound of summer has escaped. Eli Smart let’s his upbringing of Kauai and Soul Legends shine through in the release of his new surf rock single, ‘See Through’.

The track is reasonably simplistic in its production as it’s made up of a scratchy guitar riff, stripped-back drums, plucky bass and Eli’s falsetto. That being said, the simplicity massively works in the songs favour as every second of the melody can be enjoyed and the guitar solo hits differently when it takes effect.

This is the final release from Smart’s new EP ‘Aloha Soul’ which will be out in November. The EP sees him team up with Arlo Parks producer Gianluca Buccellati, who has clearly encouraged Eli to explore his sound, really tapping into his roots and inspirations growing up. When you listen to ‘See Through’ it doesn’t feel as though you are just listening to a single, rather you feel yourself getting transported to sun kissed scenery with every lyric and pluck of a guitar string.

This isn’t one to miss if you’re looking for some brief escapism from the terrible winter weather that is finally starting to take hold.

Eli Smart’s new EP ‘Aloha Soul’ will be released on November 18th.
