Heartbreaking utopian euphoria

With the album arriving on Friday, Weyes Blood has treated us to one final treat. Sharing ‘God Turn Me Into A Flower’, the lamenting centrepoint of the record, it seems to perfectly capture the record in all its darkness, beauty and utopian euphoria.

With all three singles so far coasting around the 6-minute mark, there’s clearly no focus on typical success or formats here. Instead, delivering a weaving narrative that sounds more like a funeral hymn than a single, we say that in the best, most complimentary way. Brushing off any sad girl song writing tropes to create something Homer-esque, like her very own epic poem. Setting the bar higher and higher with every track, And In The Darkness, Hearts Aglow is more high art than an album.

Only needing to wait a couple more days to hear the whole thing, ‘God Turn Me Into A Flower’ more than tides us over for friday.
