Remember all those catchy tunes that would come screaming out of your nintendo or playstation? The theme tunes to the car races, the way you’d sing along to the Mario Kart backing music? Well Squid have made their own version.

Sharing new single ‘Undergrowth’ alongside a game, we’re diving right into the bad guy’s castle with their dark, grungy tune. Putting lyrics about environmentalism and crisis mindset over silly instrumental details, like dramatic horn breakdowns and math-rock style guitar breakdowns, they’re making a challenge out of modern life.

Taken from the upcoming sophomore album, O Monolith, the band really do seem to be getting existential. Releasing their own video game along with the track, the creator Frank Force invites you to be in control: “imagine the game itself as an interactive music video where gameplay and animation is synched up to the music and changes as the song progresses, moving into different phases.”

O Monolith arrives June 9th, play the 'Undergrowth' game here
