The Horrors Draft In Chris Cunningham To Produce New Album
Legendary video director Chris Cunningham has been unveiled as the surprise producer of The Horrors’ second album.
Cunningham, who has made iconic videos for the likes of Bjork and Aphex Twin, will be making his first ever foray into music production on the follow-up to The Horrors’ 2007’s ‘Strange House.’
Frontman Faris Rotter says that the band are encouraged by the results of studio sessions so far, saying "He (Cunningham) hasn’t done music production before but I think it'll be really special. The results so far are really encouraging.
"The ideas that he has are really cinematic and there aren't really that many contemporary producers who have that kind of vision of their own and put that kind of stamp on something and I think he could be one of those."
Asked by xfm whether Cunningham’s inexperience at record production may hold them back, Rotter said they are embracing his novice skills.
"But that's what so brilliant about it - he won't approach things in the way that so many people will. He's really into the music we like: y'know - My Bloody Valentine, Dead Can Dance and Squarepusher and I think he's gonna bring something to the new album that no one else will," he said.
Cunningham was the man behind the macabre video to The Horrors’ 2006 single ‘Sheena Is A Parasite.’
