Former Blink-182 bass guitarist Mark Hoppus has revealed than he plans to record his first solo album.

Hoppus, who also fronts +44, said he had been recording material in Los Angeles since last August.

“I've got about ten songs in various stages of completion and another ten ideas that I still want to work on,” the bass player told MTV.

Hopus has been working in the same studio as former Blink-182 band mate Travis Barker, who features on a number of the bassist's tracks.

“We totally support each other in whatever we're doing. He's like a brother to me,” Hoppus said.

“I see him in our studio every week, and we'll be in the room of the studio he's working in, listening to stuff he's recorded, or he'll come into the room where I'm working and check out my songs.

"He's played on a bunch of them, and he's asked if I'll play on some of his songs.”

The bassist said he didn't have a release schedule for his own material – because he has yet to tell his record label about he venture.

“This interview will be the first time many people at the label are going to hear about the possibility of me doing an album on my own,” he said.
