George Michael Released From Highpoint Prison

Singer George Michael has been released from prison four weeks after he was given an eight-week sentence drug driving.

The former Wham! star served the majority of his time behind bars at the category C Highpoint prison in Suffolk.

He will now spend the rest of his sentence on probation, reports BBC News.

Michael was jailed last month after pleading guilty to possessing cannabis and driving under the influence of drugs.

He was arrested early this year after his car crashed into a photographic shop in Hampstead.

During his time in prison, Michael issued a statement to deny reports that he had received special treatment.

He also thanked fans for their support and promised to work on new music.
