At star-studded London bash...
Queen's Brian May and Roger Taylor celebrated what would have been frontman Freddie Mercury's 65th birthday in London last night (September 5).
The pair were joined by a host of celebrities at the Savoy Hotel, where an auction was held to raise money for The Mercury Phoenix Trust.
Many of the celebrities, including Stephen Fry, BBC Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans and Little Britain star Matt Lucas donned Mercury-inspired fancy dress for the evening.
Earlier in the day, May had paid an emotional tribute to Mercury, describing him as a fearless “free spirit”.

He also noted that, despite his death, “his presence seems more potent that ever”.
“Freddie made the last person at the back of the furthest stand in a stadium feel that he was connected,” May added.
Mercury, widely regarded as one of the best frontmen of all time, died of bronchopneumonia brought on by AIDS on November 24 in 1991.

Other guests at the lavish party included Radio 1 DJ Fearne Cotton and Girls Aloud-turned-solo singer Nicola Roberts.
The Mercury Phoenix Trust is leading the battle to fight HIV AIDS worldwide. All proceeds from the auction will go directly to supporting care projects across the world.
