The ceremony takes place at Odyssey Arena in Belfast on November 6.

"I'm so excited to be the host of the 2011 MTV EMA – it's a dream come true!” Gomez, the 19-year-old girlfriend of Justin Bieber, said. "This is such a huge event that always recognises the biggest stars in music from across the globe, so it's a real honour to be MC at this year's show."

As previously reported on Gigwise, Lady Gaga looks set to dominate this year's EMAs after picking up six nominations.

The singer is shortlisted for all the major awards, including Best Pop and Best Female.

She will go up in the latter category against Katy Perry, who along with Bruno Mars has four nominations.

Mars is nominated for Best Male alongside David Guetta, Justin Bieber, Eminem and Kanye West. Coldplay, Foo Fighters, Linkin Park, Kings of Leon and
Red Hot Chili Peppers are all up for Best Rock.
