Lana Del Rey has scored the second biggest US hit single of her career to date, as new track 'West Coast' entered the stateside charts at No.17 this week.
Despite having previously found huge international hits with tracks such as 'Video Games' and 'Born To Die', neither track scored the singer a hit in the US charts, with 'Video Games' only peaking at No.91 on the Billboard chart. Del Rey's Great Gatsby track 'Young And Beautiful' fared better, reaching No.22 in 2013, but her biggest American hit was the Cedric Gervais remix of 'Summertime Sadness', which climbed to No.6 in 2013.
The song's success is largely due to internet streams, which count greatly toward US chart placings, but the track has also shifted 118,000 download copies in a week. For no apparent reason, the track is not released in the UK until 18 May 2014.

The video for 'West Coast' is due to premiere in the next few days, having been named in a Vevo updated detailing new releases for the coming week. The star is known to have recently shot a video for the track on an LA beach - an extract of which was seen in the looped video which accompanied the recent audio of the downbeat, melancholy track.
