A spokesperson for George Michael claims his recent hospitalisation was due to 'routine tests', after an ambulance was called to his London home in the early hours of Thursday, 22 May 2014.
The reason for the health scare is not known, but it has been reported that a friend phoned the emergency services after he suffered a 'mystery collapse' at his London residence. Witnesses claim that he was taken away in an ambulance after four hours at his home and was taken to a London hospital for treatment for the unknown illness. The ambulance arrived at his home at 8am on Thursday morning.
In a statement to The Sun newspaper, Michael's spokesperson claimed the hospital dash was 'routine', telling the tabloid: "George Michael was in hospital for routine tests but there is nothing further to say."
"We were called just before 8am on May 22," said a spokesperson for the ambulance service. "We sent two ambulance crews and staff treated one patient, a man, who was then taken to hospital."
In 2013 the singer suffered injuries when he fell from a moving car on the M1 motorway. Emergency services rushed to the scene, which reportedly took place close to a junction onto the M25. George Michael was a passenger in the car involved in the crash.
A spokesperson for the Ambluance serviced stated after the 2013 incident: "A man who we believe to be in his 40s sustained a head injury and following treatment, stabilisation and immobilisation by land and air ambulance crews, he was flown to hospital for further care.
