Nick Grimshaw is set to host this year's Mercury Prize awards, after presenting the behind the scenes coverage last year.
Following in the footsteps of Lauren Laverne and Jools Holland, Grimshaw will host the ceremony on Wednesday 29 October at London's Roundhouse that will feature live performances by all 12 nominees (yes, including Go Go Penguin).
Last year Grimshaw hosting the TV coverage of the Awards but this will be his first time hosting the event proper - and given that he's being tipped to take over at the Brits, this is a great opportunity to showcase how fun a music ceremony can be when the host actually goes to gigs.
Grimshaw said of the announcement. “It's a real honour to host the Barclaycard Mercury Prize Awards Show, which celebrates the best British talent that we have to offer. I think it's a really interesting, exciting and pretty perfect shortlist. I can't wait to see which album the judges crown as the overall winner this year.
Radio One's Alice Levine will be hosting the live broadcast on More4 from 9.30pm with the overall winner being revealed live on Channel 4 at 10pm. The entire show, including all live performances, will be then be shown on 31 October on Channel 4.
