Contrary to reports that Bono has contracted the ebola virus, Gigwise can confirm that the U2 front man is indeed in good health.
There has been an abundance of hoaxes floating around the internet recently (the cruellest being confirmation of The Big Lebowski 2, featuring Bill Murray), including claims that Bono has contracted ebola. As the Independent reports, while some people have seen it as parody, some have fallen for it hook, line and sinker. The worst part? The reactions aren't too kind.
"U2 singer, activist and humanitarian has reported that he is exhibiting early symptoms of ebola and has most likely contracted the virus while caring for a dying Liberian man," writes Organ Grinder Magazine. "Dr. Thomas Frieden, director of the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention said at a press conference: "The only fortunate thing here is that Bono's involvement will bring the epidemic the international attention that it deserves."
In other Bono news, he took part in a Facebook Q&A (proving he didn't have ebola) and chose to apologise for uploading Songs Of Innocence to the world's iTunes.
