Following the tragic death of respected keyboardist Ikey Owens, Dean Fertita of Queens Of The Stone Age and The Dead Weather has stepped in to replace him on upcoming tour dates.
The Grammy Award-winning Owens, also famed for playing with the likes of The Mars Volta and Free Moral Agents, was found dead in his hotel room on 14 October while on tour with White's band. White subsequently cancelled all Mexican dates.
Now, with a UK and EU tour looming, White has announced that he will be replaced by Dean Fertita at the upcoming shows - who has previously played with White in side-project The Dead Weather.
White said in a statement: "Although it is impossible to replace Ikey, the incredibly talented Dean Fertita (Queens of the Stone Age, The Dead Weather) will be joining the band to play piano and keyboard for all of Jack’s currently announced tour dates."
Following his death, White paid tribute to Owens, saying "he will be missed and loved forever by his family, friends, bandmates and fans...We will all miss you Ikey. You were and are an incredible artist."
Meanwhile, Jack White will be returning to the UK for the following tour dates. For tickets and more information, visit here.
