Katy Perry has confirmed she will perform at the Super Bowl half time show on 1 February 2015 in Glendale, Arizona.
The news was confirmed during Sunday night's game between the Cowboys and the Giants. Perry beat both Coldplay and Rihanna, who were both potentially being considered. She's also revealed a suitably tongue-in-cheek video of her preparations for the event, including edible glitter, a thousand kittens (with gold chains), riding a fire-breathing shark wrapped in bacon. Naturally enough, it's got enough Pepsi product placement to keep the sponsor's happy.

It marks some more pleasant news for Perry who recently hit back at photographers in Australia who she accused of stalking her. She wrote on Twitter “Australian PRESS: you should be ashamed of your paparazzi & tabloid culture. Your paparazzi have no respect, no integrity, no character. NO HUMANITY. I was stalked by many grown men today as I tried to take a quiet walk to the beach. These men would not stop as I pleaded over & over to let me have my space. Many other people stopped to try to help but the paps continued to laugh at me & hold their barrels up and shoot.”
Last year's performance received 111.5 million TV viewers. Controversially the NFL do not pay artists to perform but insist the vast exposure is considered worth it. Recently it was claimed that the NFL were even considering charging performers for the privilege of playing.
