After Apple quietly discontinued their iPod Classics two months ago, the model is being sold online for up to four times its original price, as the MP3 player becomes a collectors' item.
Apple killed off the iPod Classic, which was the last remaining iPod model that still had the original, iconic click-wheel design, in September.
Speaking of its demise to Fast Co. Design, Apple's senior vice-president Tony Fadell said, "I'm sad to see it go. The iPod's been a huge part of my life for the last decade. The team that worked on the iPod poured literally everything into making it what it was."
Now though, as The Guardian reports, the 160GB Classic (a storage size double the size of any current iPods on sale) is being sold as new on Amazon for as much as £670. More than 3,000 second-hand iPod Classics have also been sold on eBay since October, for between £350 and £500.
The highest price the iPod Classic was ever officially on sale for was £229.
