R&B singer Jill Scott has come under fire after appearing to defend Bill Cosby over the series of rape allegations that have been made towards him.
This week she jumped to the defence of the American comedian and TV personality posting a series of tweets about Cosby's legacy to black entertainment. She also cited the lack of DNA evidence and the fact she herself was acccused of 'something dreadful in high school.'`
@SimplyBerry darling I've learned not to believe too much without proof. Especially about someone whose done so much for our greater good.

@curlyheadRED shame? Mr. Cosby's allegation are on two major mags if not more but he's not charged and there's no proof.

Scott also offered advice to rape victims:
Rape is a despicable, cowardly crime. If you've been raped- plz do NOT shower, go to police IMMEDIATELY, have a rap kit done. GET EVIDENCE.

Followers were quick to shut Scott down calling her comments "disappointing", but the singer refused to back down. The accused comedian then broke his silence to thank Scott:
Thank you @MissJillScott, from the Cosby Family.
