Madonna has come under fire for using Black Civil Rights leaders to promote her new album Rebel Heart.
The Queen of Pop has drawn controversy for her social media posts of late with the latest outrage provoked by posting pictures of Nelson Mandela and Martin Luther King Jr. photoshopped onto her 'Rebel Heart' album cover.
The images, depicting the iconic figures restrained with black cords, led many fans, journalists and public figures to take to Twitter branding her actions "very disrespectful".
Make up your own mind below.
Madonna has now apologised for the pictures online in a statement saying: "I'm sorry. I'm not comparing my self to anyone. I'm admiring and acknowledging their Rebel Hearts. This is neither a crime or an insult or racist! I also did it with Michael Jackson and Frieda Khalo and Marilyn Monroe. Am I say I am them, NO. I'm saying they are Rebel Hearts too. And I didn't do it, my fans did. And I just re-posted those photos. My fans aren't racist either. If they put me in the same category as those other people, Thank you. I'm very flattered and I hope one day to live up to 1 100th of what those people accomplished."
A number of Rebel Heart tracks leaked online late last year with Madonna comparing the violation to an 'act of terrorism'.
