Prince decided to share the Valentine’s Day cheer on Saturday morning by waking up early in order to a play to a crowd that included Beyoncé, Jay Z and Chris Rock.
Other musicians including Nas and Queen Latifah were seen at the concert as well as energetic talkshow host Wendy Williams, who danced onstage behind the keyboards throughout the first half of Prince’s two-hour-plus performance.
Unfortunately those who tried to snap photos or take videos were quickly prevented from doing so, but it is reported that hits such as ‘Controversy’, ‘1999’, ‘Little Red Corvette’ and ‘Hot Thing’ were performed.
But unsurprisingly, audience members were quick to yell ‘Purple Rain’ at the end of the show, and so the iconic musician returned to the stage to close the night with this classic song. Always one to get the crowd involved, Prince said while extending the song: “I heard some people singing, but I want to hear everybody singing. You’re welcome.”
