Ed Sheeran took Latitude by surprise with a secret set at the i Arena in the woods last night (Friday 17 July).
Rumours of a secret set began to circulate in the early evening, before the Wembley headliner confirmed the news on Twitter. So great was the rush that the bridge from the main stage across the lake was closed as hundreds flocked to the intimate i Arena to catch a rare glimpse of the X chart-topper in an intimate and secluded venue.

Sheeran famously played some of his earliest festival appearances at Latitude at the early stages of his career - with Latitude boss Melvin Benn telling Gigwise that he always hoped for him to one day be a headliner.
"Sadly Ed Sheeran jumped a stage - he started here and jumped straight to Wembley Stadium," Benn told Gigwise. "I didn't get the chance to give him his first headline performance. There's always a few that are coming through the ranks."
