Esoteric electronica outfit Everything Everything have unveiled ‘Distant Past’, the lead single from their new third album, Get To Heaven. Watch the video below.
The hugely anticipated followup to 2013's stunning Arc, the track features the band's mind-melting lyricism ("Two thumbs across the rubicon / Slack jaw but you’ll never be passing it on"), robotic messages and some gloriously off kilter rhythms. It's also the first indication of the band's next phase, thanks to production by Stuart 'Jacques Lu Cont' Price (The Killers, Madonna).
The video is a caveman scrap reminiscent of a prehistoric take on one of Family Guy's endless fight scenes - and also gives everyone a proper look at Jonathan Higgs' distinctive haircut. Higgs explains of the video's concept: "Distant Past is about primal human nature, and no matter how far we progress in our civilisations, we can never escape it."
