Madonna makes statement on BRIT Awards cape incident

Blamed the wardrobe not the dancer

Madonna falls at the Brit Awards releases statement about cape Photo:

Madonna has made a statement regarding her BRIT Awards performance after she was dragged down a flight of stairs by her cape. Read it in full below.

Taking to Instagram (where else?) she explained that it was a wardrobe malfunction rather than the actions of another dancer.

"Armani hooked me up," she wrote. "My beautiful cape was tied too tight! But nothing can stop me and love really lifted me up! Thanks for your good wishes! I'm fine! ❤️#livingforlove"

Although the internet reacted with glee regarding the mistake - including quoting The Incredibles 'no capes' rule - it is worth pointing out that Madonna had by far the most advantaged stage show of the entire night and finished her perfomance. Speaking to Laura Whitmore after the event, Jimmy Carr announced described Madonna's recovery as "incredible" and "of course she stole the show".

As previously reported, Madonna was set to perform 'Living For Love'. Decked in a cape and flanked by dancers dressed as bulls and such, she soon unveiled herself in a matador before she began awkwardly walking around her bovine friends. Alas, it didn't stay a smooth performance for long as she a dancer inadvertently pulled her down a flight of stairs.
