Brandon Flowers kicked off his tour to promote his highly anticipated forthcoming solo album The Desired Effect at New York City's Webster Hall on Tuesday night (March 24), with a handful of new songs making appearances during the set.
Prior to the actual show, Flowers reportedly played an impromptu one-song performance as a “’thank you’ to the victims that waited all day outside Webster Hall” to see him, and he premiered a song off of the new album, ‘The Way It’s Always Been’.
So @BrandonFlowers really just came out on stage to thank us for waiting out in the cold and performed a new song like actual saint?????

The official concert began with an opening set from former The Virgins frontman Donald Cumming, who played several Virgins hits, as well as some material from his debut solo album, which is due out this June.
After playing opening tracks ‘Dreams Come True’ and ‘Crossfire’, Flowers told the crowd that it's “nice to get those jitters out of the way”. He then proceeded to introduce ‘Magdalena’ – a song which is about a “pilgrimage that takes place every year in Mexico…it’s sixty miles and it’s really romantic” – and followed the song with a very appreciative bow.
Flowers and his band also played a few “cover” songs (two of which being Killers tracks ‘Jenny Was A Friend Of Mine’ and ‘Read My Mind’), along with a rendition of ‘Simply Irresistible’, which he introduced by saying: “I love Robert Palmer”.
The set also included three new tracks, including Flowers’ recently released Haim-esque pop single ‘Can’t Deny My Love’, as well as 'Dreams Come True' and drum-heavy ‘Digging Up The Heart’, which Flowers previously described to Q Magazine as a “four-minute narrative song, like a short story”.
While the entire set showcased some of Flowers’ most impeccable solo work, perhaps the finest moment of the night came during set closer ‘Mr. Brightside’, which saw every single hand in the air and had every audience member in the 1,500-capacity venue singing along.
