Kendrick Lamar played a surprise free gig on a moving truck in LA last night after tweeting details to his 4.7 million Twitter followers.
At 8pm last night (LA time), the rapper, who recently surprise-released his second album To Pimp A Butterfly, tweeted: "9pm. meet me here. 8950 Sunset Blvd. 930pm. meet me here. 8466 Melrose Ave." This was retweeted over 4,000 times and when he appeared in an empty lot on West Hollywood's Sunset Strip he was met by a large crowd.
Hip Hop DX also reports that police on BMW motorcycles were in attendance, but it's not clear whether they had been organised by Lamar's people or arrived of their own accord.
Lamar then appeared on an 18-wheel truck with musicians and a sound system, and performed songs from good kid, m.A.A.d city. The truck has #GetPumped written along the side, which suggests that the performance was in conjuction with Reebok. Slightly less cool.

Lamar's new album, To Pimp A Butterfly, recently reached No.1 in the UK albums chart.
