Glastonbury boss Michael Eavis has confessed that he won't be watching Kanye West's controversial headline performance at the event, as he prefers The Moody Blues.
Yeezy's announcement as headliner of the Pyramid Stage has divided opinion among thousands of the Glasto faithful. We know it's going to be ace, but to date over 130,000 have signed a petition to stop him performing (despite the petition organiser telling Gigwise that he's never been been to Glastonbury).
Now, Michael Eavis has admitted that he won't be sticking around the Pyramid Stage to see what Yeezy has in store - as he'll be watching old favourites The Moody Blues instead.
"They are headlining at the same time as Kanye West," he told The Daily Mirror. "They'll be on the Acoustic Stage. I'll be watching The Moody Blues."
Earlier this year, Michael responded to the Kanye criticism with a sign reading 'Yeezy does it', before daughter and co-organiser Emily Eavis said: "Ultimately, there is no question in my mind that we have got one of the greatest artists of his generation headlining, and we have no regrets at all about booking him.”
She continued: "We think the story this year should not be: ‘Why is Kanye coming?’ but: ‘How amazing is it that Kanye is coming?’. One of the world’s biggest superstars and a music legend, always interesting, never boring. He has agreed to play a festival where headliners get paid a fraction of their normal rate in support of Oxfam, Water Aid and Greenpeace as well as thousands of other worthy causes. We think that’s pretty great."
