Lily Allen has interviewed Dolly Parton in a new interview for the Radio Times, where they discuss Glastonbury, feminism and Miley Cyrus.
The issue, which is out today to promote the BBC's weekend coverage of Glasto 2014, sees Britain's biggest pop star interview the 'Nine To Five' country legend on a wide range of topics from the state of the music industry, modern feminism and that infamous Glastonbury mud.
Allen praised Parton's God-daughter Miley Cyrus as 'fantastic', before the conversation moved on to women in music.
"Women have got a long way to go, but I really think we've made a lot of great strides since Jane Fonda starred in 9 to 5," said Parton. "I felt I was part of a whole new movement, especially in the workplace. There are a lot of wonderful women out there doing a lot of wonderful things."
Discussing the upcoming weekend's events at Worthy Farm, Parton said: "I've heard that people from all walks of life come to Glastonbury. I guess they smoke a lot of dope and drink a lot of booze, like most festivals, right? But then there's a lot of people that don't, they just come to listen to the music. Who cares, as long as they're having a good time?"
She added: "What should I expect? Mud? I’ll be wearing my high heels, even if I’m up to my knees in mud. I’m a little bit apprehensive. I’m excited, I just want to make sure I do the right show. I’ve heard of Glastonbury because it’s one of the biggest in the world, right? For years, everybody’s asked me why I’ve never done it, and I guess it’s never worked out where I could, and so now I am."
Lily Allen will be performing on the Pyramid Stage at Glastonbury 6.30pm on Friday, while Dolly Parton will take to the Pyramid Stage on Sunday at 4.20pm. Check back at Gigwise for the latest Glastonbury 2014 news, reviews and updates.
