So now we can get used to Ash permanently releasing their material like this – in single form. No more of that album crap, nobody likes those anyway… This release in itself, is nothing special unfortunately. No question, ‘End of the World’ is the (final) album ballad that will always get a live crowd arm in arm, but if you’re sitting in your bedroom on your own with those grim, dull looking clouds forming over your flat once again, the whole situation doesn’t make for a touching, memorable one. But yes, it’s a half-decent song, arguably better than the other two releases; Wheeler’s self-production is noticeably strong. So maybe we should just leave it be as a live tear-jerker, but maybe Ash should have just left it like that in the first place.
