Rising stars Ibeyi have performed a live version of their debut single 'Oya' as part of Vevo's DSCVR series. Watch it below.
The French-Cuban twins, who are one of XL Recordings' most recent signings, will release their self-titled debut album next year. They've now been included in Vevo's DSCVR Ones To Watch for 2015, alongside Years & Years, James Bay and more.
Interestingly, this rendition of 'Oya' contains a French verse. Despite it being their mother-tongue, the duo recently told Gigwise it's a language they tend to avoid singing in: "In English you can be direct, which is what I like. I remember when I listened to Amy Winehouse - like everybody, I love her - and she's like, 'You should be stronger than me'.
"Every sentence is direct. In French you have to "Oh la la", I don't know how to explain really, but you cannot be direct, because if you are direct, it sounds like... shit. It sound really bad, so you have to work a lot... And I'm still working on it! One day I hope I'll be able to write a good song in French."

Speaking to Gigwise about the release of their forthcoming debut album, Lisa-Kaindé said: "We're nervous about a few things, because when you say, 'I don't like it', it hurts a little bit of course, because you put all your love in it, obviously you want people to like it. But you know - that's life, it's always like that."
