The first single from the Killers frontman's second solo album has emerged online: a propulsive, Haim-esque, 1980s-loving epic, it confirms why The Desired Effect is one of our most anticipated records of the year.

To mark the release of the album he's announced a short UK tour. Flowers will play:

Sunday 24 May - Manchester, Academy
Monday 25 May - Edinburgh, Usher Hall
Tuesday 26 May - Leeds, O2 Academy

As previously reported, the album is due for release on 18 May and is the result of a collaboration between Flowers and producer Ariel Rechtshaid.
Speaking to the Guardian recently Flowers said of his new album: "I wish this was a Killers record. It’s so strong. Every song on it is a single.” He also revealed that the album features 'I Can Change' (that samples Bronski Beat) and that he wanted to fire producer Rechtshaid four times during the recording process.
Flowers wrote in a handwritten note on his website: “Ariel and I have been collaborating in the studio, working twogether [sic] in the spirit of conversation, contention, and at long last, sweet contrition. No one has yet seen or heard the change. But soon, we all will.”
While The Killers are said to be on hiatus, they were recently confirmed to headline Firefly Festival in the US with Kings Of Leon and Morrissey.
