"I think that Bowie will be thought of in the same terms that we think of Miles Davies and John Coltrane," Chic disco legend Nile Rodgers tells Gigwise, reflecting on the recent and tragic death of his friend and collaborator. "He was a real innovator - he didn't just do music, he did ideas which were incredible."

Ever the renaissance man himself, Bowie would bring about the resurrection of Rogers - raising his profile from the former dancefloor-filler seemingly killed by punk and the notion that 'disco sucks', to the go-to guy for solid gold hits thanks to Let's Dance - which he remains to this day. Just ask Daft Punk, Pharrell or anyone with an ear for a tune. As per usual, Bowie was two steps ahead of everyone.
"Unfortunately what happens with most art and most composers is that they become more famous after they're gone as you realise how brilliant it was and you wish that it was still around." Amen. We already miss you Bowie - but you'll never really be gone.
Watch below, as the Chic legend relives the first time he met Bowie, their work together on 'Let's Dance' and how Bowie 'saved him from drowning'.
