Vine has 16.9m followers on Twitter and has created its own online subculture since it was launched in 2012.
It's even created unlikely internet stars, famous for fitting whole micro-stories into 6 second clips.
Thankfully for us at Gigwise, musical Vines also became hugely popular. From the sublime to the otterly ridiculous (you'll see what we mean later) these have consistently kept us entertained for four whole years.
As a tribute, we've curated some of our favourites from your viewing and listening pleasure. Enjoy!
1) You wouldn't think that, in 2016, Nickleback would have one of the most viewed Vines on the internet. But they do, and here's why:
2) Donald Trump is, for obvious reasons, a gift to viners everywhere. Here he is making a guest appearance with Blink-182:
3) Just like Vine, Whitney Houston was a global treasure gone too soon. Thankfully, she's been immortalised in this wonderful clip:
4) Remember when Nirvana released lost track 'You Know You're Right?' Well, turns out they may have had some surprising inspiration:
5) Here's a weird muzak version of Evanescence. And nope, we've got no idea what's going on either:
6) This is the internet, so animals were going to play a big part in our musical countdown. Here's an otter who's definitely got more swagger than you:
7) This dog is all of us at a party when someone starts playing Wonderwall:
8) But, play a tune that she likes and you'll find she's actually pretty talented: Here's 'Don't Fear The Reaper':
9) Even David Moyes looks like he's having fun on Vine. Here he is rocking out after his Real Sociedad team beat Barcelona:
10) Korean Vine is...different. Someone really needs to rescue that poor cat:
11) This dog dancing to Toto hypnotised a whole generation of viners:
12) 'Eye of the Tiger' became synonymous with Rocky montages. But as this cow shows, anyone can train outdoors in winter:
13) Marvin Gaye would hopefully appreciate this cat introducing the band in this Vine:
14) And Gaye surely would have loved to have done a collaboration with a seal. No, not that Seal:
15) Finally, Vine may be over but not before unveiling some future stars. We think this kid's going to be big one day:
