Remixing a classic song is a no-no, right? Wrong. Sometimes the results can be surprisingly successful.
With the right amount of tampering, a legendary track can become a completely different, exciting beast. A classic rock song can become a house anthem, whilst a downtempo ballad can become an upbeat electro number.

Fleetwood Mac 'Dreams' (Gigamesh Edit)
US super producer Gigamesh took Fleetwood Mac's downtempo floaty number 'Dreams' and turned it into a funky, disco house anthem that sounds like it could have been taken from a Donna Summer album.
The Police 'Roxanne' (Discotech Edit)
The Police's pleading ditty about a man who falls in love with a prostitute has been given a sparkly, rather camp makeover by Discotech, complete with heavy synths and grooving bass. Sure to be a crowd-pleaser, although we're not sure if Sting would approve.
Pixies 'Where Is My Mind' (Bassnectar Remix)
California DJ Bassnectar has played around with the already heavy percussion on this iconic 90s track, distorted Black Francis' raw vocals and added wobble bass and other dubstep elements to give it even more of a punch.
Blackstreet 'No Diggity' (Bondax Remix)
Hot production duo Bondax have updated the massive 90s R&B anthem for 2013, speeding it up a little and adding touches of deep house and bubbly flourishes, whilst still maintaining its original R&B vibes.
Grace Jones 'William's Blood' (Aeroplane Remix)
The downtempo 'William's Blood' is transformed into a epic, seven minute long funky electronic future-disco track you could lose yourself in for hours.
Neil Young 'Old Man' (Sound Remedy Remix)
Sound Remedy got their hands on Young's melancholy, haunting classic and it could have been a disaster - but luckily it wasn't. 'Old Man''s guitar led simplicity has been transformed into a glitchy slice of gloomy electro.
Radiohead 'Everything In Its Right Place' (Gigamesh Remix)
You can't blame producers for not being able to keep their hands off this incredible Radiohead track, which already has elements of minimal techno with its captivating keyboard refrain and sparse bass drum. Gigamesh has worked his magic again, adding a simple but effective dance beat whilst still maintaining the laidback vibe of the song.
Pink Floyd 'Time' (Pretty Lights Remix)
Pretty Lights, AKA Derek Vincent Smith, takes this Dark Side Of the Moon Track adding dubstep elements, glitchy audio snippets and distorted vocals, and still manages not to make it sound like a hot mess.
The Rolling Stones 'Sympathy For The Devil' (Neptunes Remix)
This classic 1968 Stones track was crying out for a dance rerub, and luckily super-producers The Neptunes stepped in to add a delectable funky dance beat, which works perfectly with the original frenzied percussion. Sitars and "ooh-ooh"s were also thrown in for good measure. Warning: the video isn't great.
David Bowie 'Love Is Lost' (LCD Soundsytem Remix)
Finally, here's the aforementioned LCD Soundsystem epic ten minute long remix of The Next Day track 'Love Is Lost', which features a LOT of clapping.
