You might have read the story, almost exactly a year ago, of 1,000 Italian Foo Fighters fans covering ‘Learn To Fly’ in an attempt to persuade the band to perform in their home town. Well now they’ve gone one step further.
The campaign last year saw 1,000 fans in the Northern Italian city of Cesena all playing 'Learn To Fly' at once in a bid to attract the band’s attention. “The Foo Fighters are not in Romagna since 1997, it’s time to get them back, but we need a crazy idea,” they said on their website. “We have to organize something that kicks ass worldwide and can be seen by Dave Grohl: We will ask one thousand rockers to play one of their songs, all together and at the same time.”
And they certainly pulled it off. The band saw the viral video and agreed to visit Cesena for the first time in 20 years. Now, the Rockin’1000 have regrouped, with 200 additional members, for a huge concert. It saw them covering the likes of Bowie, Nirvana, Patti Smith, The Beatles, The White Stripes and more. David Bowie - ‘Rebel Rebel’
The White Stripes - ‘Seven Nation Army’
The Beatles - ‘Come Together’
The Verve - ‘Bittersweet Symphony’
