The Killers have announced plans to celebrate the tenth anniversary of their classic second album, Sam's Town.
It's been ten years since the band released their sophomore record, they'll be reissuing the album on vinyl this Autumn as well as performing at a two day extravaganza at Sam’s Town Hotel and Gambling Hall in Las Vegas on 30 September and 1 October.
The Vegas extravaganza will feature performances by The Killers on Friday and Saturday night, as well as "an expert-led tour of The Killers’ Las Vegas – from iconic spots in the band’s musical history, including Battle Born Studios and early locations that shaped each member."
Tickets are on sale from Friday 5 August, and all profits from the event will go to support local Las Vegas charities for the homeless and addiction recovery.
The vinyl reissue of Sam's Town is a fully re-mastered double LP with two bonus tracks – the never before released Sam’s Town era demo 'Peace of Mind' and 'Read My Mind (Pet Shop Boys Stars are Blazing Mix)'. The release is limited to 5,016 numbered copies and will include a special edition, coffee table book-style booklet reflecting on the 10th anniversary of the album.
It is available for pre-order here.
"There's sort of a reverence for our second record," Flowers told Gigwise, about the importance of Sam's Town. "I think our fans like all of our records, but there's a different kind of love for the second record. Maybe that's what they're looking for - something more like that?"
He continued: "But I think there's a certain quality that they definitely expect, and we have that pressure that we put ourselves too. It really connected with people in a way that the other ones didn't."
It seems he's more of a fan of Sam's Town than he is of Hot Fuss - which Flowers admits he 'can't listen to any more'.
Meanwhile, after the departure of bassist Mark Stoermer, the band have been hard at work on their new album - which features special guest, Sir Elton John.
