When it comes to festival headliners, none have caused quite as much of a stir or controversy as Metallica topping the bill at Glastonbury this weekend.

They're probably the most talked about act of the event this year - half because they're legendary, and half because many think they just don't belong here. After the hunting controversy, the metal-bashing and the snobbery, they truly have divided opinion.

So, before they take to the Pyramid Stage in the coveted Saturday night slot, we went out into the fields of Worthy Farm to ask Glasto-goers what they think of the 'Enter Sandman' icons topping the bill....

“Can I swear? I cannot fucking wait man, I’ve seen them about five times and I just think it’s gonna be amazing. I’ll be right at the front singing everything, rock and fucking roll.”  - Matt, 23 from Worcester

“I think it’s unnecessary and I won’t be seeing them, thank you  - goodbye.” - Rachel, 26, Glastonbury

“I’m really not fussed by it all to be honest, there’s other things on at the same time right? Why are people worrying?” - Chelsea, 25 from Dudley

“I like the idea of them playing because they’ll no doubt bring an interesting set, but for some reason they clash with Mogwai who are better, so I’ll be seeing them instead.” - John, 26 from Colchester

“I might see them, I don’t know yet. I like not planning stuff at Glastonbury” - Dianne, 35 from Leeds

“I don’t understand all the fuss really, Glastonbury is known for its diversity. People weren’t happy about Jay Z that time though were they? So who knows?” - Paul, 22 from London

“It's definitely an interesting decision, I'm not a fan though” - Adam, 19 from Bristol

“I don't like Metallica so will be giving it a miss, it’s just a bit of a rubbish choice of headliner in my opinion” - Pete, 40 from Worksop

"I don't really care, it's not about the headliners is it? It's about everything else that's going on. If you don't want to see them then just don't bother. I'd quite like to see them because it's one of those things that everyone will be talking about but..meh. It just gives you more room when no one cares" - Jess Clarke, 26 from Nottingham

"I don't like them, but I suppose it just gives me a good excuse to do something else. Do you want more than that? I'm just not bothered." - Ryan Maguire, 28 from Derby

"Get over yourselves, snobs. They're one of the biggest bands of all time and have headlined more festivals than you have had hot dinners - or expensive samosas, if you're a typical Glastonbury type. They know what they're doing - and they're going to fucking rock." - Kelvin Terblum, 29 from Manchester
