"I think music really is a great way to get it out of my system," says Tove Lo of the sex, love and loss on her huge debut album, Queen Of The Clouds. "I think it's what keeps me normal. When I was a teenager and growing up I was pretty crazy and I think not very easy to deal with for my parents and stuff. I think people expect me to be a lot crazier and more mad but people are always like 'Oh, you're nice', and I'm like 'Yeah, I'm not a total psycho!' I get all of that out in my music."

It's that refreshing honesty behind the hard and heady themes of her music that has already made the 27-year-old Tove Lo with so many disenchanted pop lovers around the world - and now it's the UK's time to fall for her.
"You have that bluntness in me being very open and honest in the lyrics, and maybe singing about things that maybe a lot of people don't want to admit to feeling," she tells Gigwise. "A lot of break-up songs are like 'I'm better of without you, you're an asshole, I can live my life without you, I don't need you, I'm so much stronger now', mine are just like 'I'm really hurt, and that's so painful' but it's OK to feel that way."
She added: "It's not that fun to be perfect anymore, which I love. As an artist, I'm just me - it's raw, it's honest, it's a little dirty, and I think everything from the cover where I have this messy make-up, dirty eyes, the whole front is scratched, it's creative and it's art. It's not the perfect pop package. That's really important to me that it comes across, even though I do love pop and I'm very much in the pop world, music-wise I feel it's very much important to me that people know that I write my songs, I'm an artist, it's very creatively sensitive and it all means so much to me."
