Mark Ronson and Bruno Mars' global smash was originally written with Jeffrey Bhasker, Devon Gallaspy, Philip Lawrence and Trinidad James. Now, RCA Records have announced they will be joined by the five writers of The Gap Band’s 1979 disco anthem 'Oops Upside Your Head'.
Although a court case hasn't taken place, a claim had been put forth by Minder Music on behalf of The Gap Band. Compare the two tracks below.

Billboard reports that when asked whether this particular decision was made in the light of the 'Blurred Lines' trial - in which Pharrell, Robin Thicke and TI had to pay $7.4m to Marvin Gaye's trial - Danny Zook, who manages Trinidad James and runs sample clearing house Alien Music, said “Everyone is being a little more cautious. Nobody wants to be involved in a lawsuit. Once a copyright dispute goes to a trial, [if a jury is used], it is subject to be decided by public opinion -- and no longer resolved based entirely on copyright law."
