U2 drummer Larry Mullen Jr's Dad passed away last week in Dublin at the age of 92, the Irish group are still set to go ahead with the first night of their tour in Canada this evening (14 May).

Larry Mullen Sr, a former civil servant, passed away at Bons Secour Hospital in Dublin last week, which saw his son returning to Ireland from tour rehearsals in Canada for the funeral on Tuesday (12 May).

As the The Irish Herald reports, the drummer read a eulogy at the funeral, taking place at Our Lady Of Mercy Church: “Nice timing, dad.” He joked and added: “My father was truly ready to go. He wasn’t sick very long, and he decided to exit this mortal coil on Sunday. To my dad, I just want to acknowledge that there are no regrets between us. I love you, and you know that.”

U2 are still set to kick off their massive iNNOCENCE and eXPERIENCE tour this evening at Rogers Arena in Vancouver, Canada. The tour will move through the USA and Canada throughout June and July before returning to Europe from September to November.
